A three sport athlete at Central, Bob earned nine letters in football, basketball, and baseball. He played on state championship teams in football and basketball, and was named Co-Captain of the NH All-State Football team. Bob graduated from West Point where he played football and baseball. At West Point, he played football for the legendary Coach Earl "Red" Blaik in the same backfield with "Doc" Blanchard and Glenn Davis. The teams won national championships in 1944 and 1945. After serving in the Korean War with the 11th Airborne Division, Bob returned to Manchester and the new Memorial High School where he taught for 27 years and coached for 15. In a brilliant coaching career, Bob's teams won five state championships, posted 3 undefeated seasons, and won 27 consecutive victories -- a record that still stands. Bob is active as a volunteer at the Elliot Hospital and with a choral group. Married to the former Virginia Robinson, they have two children - Linda and Bruce.
